Though a counter-intuitive approach, some stones have sufficient tensile strength to allow jointing and constructing. Stacking and cantilevering carved blocks of stone are also favourite techniques.

‘Carving’  explores the ancient, time-honoured work of finding forms within natural rock. I work in a variety of stones – the clear, white, Vermont marbles; to the richly coloured green and black marbles. Also here is an alabaster carving, with a beautiful subtle translucency.
